Maria Welch is a professional pianist based in Chicago whose distinguished career as a performer, educator, and collaborative musician has been shaped by a lifelong commitment to musical excellence. Equally at home performing elegant wedding ceremonies, accompanying fellow musicians, or presenting solo piano repertoire, Maria brings artistry, professionalism, and thoughtful attention to every performance.
A graduate of Carthage College, Maria earned her Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance along with a Certificate in Piano Pedagogy. Her musical development has been enriched through advanced study and summer programs at Luther College, Concordia College Moorhead, and the Boston Conservatory, where she worked with distinguished mentors from both Oberlin Conservatory and Northwestern University.
As a versatile pianist, Maria performs regularly for weddings, worship services, recitals, and private events, offering both solo performances and collaborative ensemble work. Her extensive repertoire spans classical masterworks, elegant contemporary selections, jazz standards, and timeless favorites, allowing her to thoughtfully tailor each performance to the unique vision of every couple.
Maria is also a Steinway-affiliated educator through the prestigious Steinway Teacher & Educational Partner (STEP) Program, reflecting her dedication to artistic excellence and piano education. With more than fifteen years of teaching experience, she remains actively involved in Chicago's music education community through professional organizations including the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association, Illinois State Music Teachers Association, Music Teachers National Association, and Music Teachers of Hyde Park.
In 2017, Maria founded Hyde Park Piano Studio while pursuing doctoral studies in Ethnomusicology at the University of Chicago. Her belief that music should inspire joy, connection, and meaningful human experiences naturally extends into every wedding she performs. As a collaborative artist with Mose Music & Events, Maria is proud to provide couples with refined musicianship, personalized service, and an elevated musical experience for life's most meaningful celebrations.
