About Ben
Ben Bauer is an active cellist performing in Chicago and beyond. He was recently appointed Associate Principal Cellist of Orchestra Iowa and has 15 years of experience performing at weddings and other special events. He graduated with a Bachelor’s in Cello Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music in 2019 and a Master’s in Cello Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2022.
Ben is well-versed in a wide variety of musical styles, from classical to contemporary. He is an active chamber musician, performing regularly for events and classical concerts with groups in the Chicago area. Passionate about sharing cello playing with others, he previously served as Cello Faculty for the Merit School of Music, teaching privately and in local schools for the Merit Music in Communities (MMiC) program. In addition to his musical pursuits, he currently serves as Communications Chair for the CSO’s Overture Council and enjoys time at home with his two cats, Simma and Chestnut.
